Tame Your Temper

March 18, 2013

Doest thou well to be angry?
–Jonah 4:4

You have a temper! There is nothing unique about that. Most people have tempers, in varying degrees, of course. God does not ask that you get rid of that temper. But He does say that if you are to be happy, it must be brought under control and rechanneled to proper use. God cannot use a man without a temper as well as one with a controlled temper. Too many professed Christians never get “wrought up” about anything; they never get indignant with injustice, with corruption in high places, or with the godless traffics which barter away the souls and bodies of men.

Prayer for the day

Use my anger to help others, Lord. When I see them hurting or Your world decaying, let me be challenged to reach out—instead of merely exploding.

Thank you for posting this... The ugliness of my temper was revealed when I learned that the man I was engaged to was sexually involved with another girl (a very young girl). I flipped. I sure hope His strength was made perfect through my weakness!

Situations in life can prompt initial feelings of anger. However it must be controled and utilized for God's service. Ask and Pray, then he will show you how.

My hardest challenge is in dealing with the silence of my Christian brothers and sisters as our nation is slowly sinking into the pits of hell. Where are your voices? God please bless me a peaceful heart.

Gerry says 3.18.2012, 06:32 a.m.

It is difficult not to become angry when we see all the atrocities man commits against, men, women and especially innocent little children. It is important to harness that anger and know that ultimately, God's Justice will prevail.

Use all your God given emotions for good. Harness the energy of your anger and use it to motivate you into active Godly service.

Yes, God has mercy on all who will repent...But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth. Let every one call Urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence. Who knows? God may relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we Will not perish. When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened.(Jonah3:8-10 NIV) I love you Jesus....Amen
