Lean on the Rock

January 15, 2013

When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
–Psalm 61:2

When you become a Christian, it doesn’t mean that you will live on a perpetual “high.” The Psalmist David went down to the very depths, and so did the Apostle Paul. But in the midst of all circumstances God’s grace, peace, and joy are there. The tears will still come, the pressures will be felt, and so will the temptations. But there is a new dimension, a new direction, and a new power in life to face the circumstances in which you live.

Prayer for the day

David and Paul have given me the example of trusting You, Lord, even in the excruciating valleys of life. Like them, I praise You.

As all Christians are aware we are not exempt from trials and tribulations in life. In fact some would say we encounter even more. The great news is God will walk beside us through whatever life brings our way.

If you lean on your own power to deal with the many life crisis that are certain to come along......failure is certain. Lean on the Power of Christ and find Victory and Peace.

Through life's trials, disappointments and heartaches; those times when the morning comes a little too soon. You can continue to believe, love and trust God, even when you just don't feel like whistling a tune. For the Lord sheds much love-comfort to those who call upon Christ Jesus, His gifts of compassion and blessings of grace. In your heart's quiet moments you feel these, come let's reason, its here you will find your true place.

Although we have the assurance that God loves us unconditionally, when hardships strike our first human instinct may be fear and concern. This is of course a natural reaction, however we must quickly call upon the Lord for his help and we will soon feel the peace of his presence in our life.

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me. That is the essence of the Psalmists' direction to become and be a Christian.
