Q:

I know that after His death and resurrection Jesus was taken up into heaven, and that some day He'll come back to rule over everything. But what is He doing in the meantime? And why hasn't He already returned?

A:

Let me first answer your second question: Jesus hasn’t yet returned because God wants to give everyone an opportunity to know about Christ and turn to Him in repentance and faith. The Bible says, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise (that Christ will return)…. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

At the same time, we’re urged not to ignore His coming, or assume that it’s never going to happen (at least in our lifetime). Only God knows when it will take place — but it could happen at any time, and we are admonished to be ready. The Bible says, “Our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed…. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light” (Romans 13:11-12).

Does this mean Jesus Christ isn’t active in the world right now? No, not at all — and the reason is because He is presently in heaven, seated at God’s right hand (i.e., in the place of authority and honor). Even now He prays for us, and He aids us in our spiritual battles by His Holy Spirit.

Never forget: God isn’t finished with this world! Some day, Christ will come again to conquer all evil and establish His perfect rule over all creation. Is your hope and trust in Him, and are you seeking to live for Him every day He gives you?

Please do not lose heart. Sometimes God allows us to grow. Sometimes we feel we are let down as prayers did not get answered the way we had hoped. On this side of eternity, we do not have all the answers, but we must – in order not to give Satan a foothold – understand that God knows what is best and we must trust Him continually. Please remember, Jesus also suffered much while he walked amongst people; but He knew that God the Father knew what was best in the long term and Jesus obeyed God, knowing the wonderful future that would not only be His (as Jesus is God having come down from heaven in the flesh) but also the wonderful future exists for those that would accept Him. Please remember that we are only here temporarily, and eternity will be forever.

Though I love God and believe that Jesus died for me a terrible death, I do not believe that God answers anyone's prayers. If anything good comes into our life it is because we made it happen or another person made it happen. If we are in dire straights God won't interfere and help us. Because of a series of sad events, this is the epiphany that I have had…and I really believe this. I'm sure God has a reason for this which he will explain it to us one day. If you can convince me otherwise please do because I feel that since I don't believe in the power of prayer anymore I have lost hope. sincerely, Jennifer

      Pray without ceasing! 1Thessalonians 5:17

That means never give up on prayer! It’s your way of communicating with God.

Jesus is resurrected! We are happy to see a model family in this world who produce Gospel Man in third generation to proclaim the Eternal Gospel (Rev. 14:6) to every nation, tribe, languages and people. Thank you for reminding us that our task is to be ready with white garments to meet to returning Lord our bridegroom but we should try our best to reach the Gospel to the end of the earth till the day. Love, respect and honor you Godly man.
