The Bible does say that God looks at time differently from the way we do. We see only the next hour or the next day, but God is eternal, and He sees the whole picture. The Bible says, “With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day” (2 Peter 3:8).
Does this mean God isn’t interested in what happens to us? In other words, is God not interested in the next minute or the next year of our lives? No, absolutely not. God is interested in every detail of our lives, and not a second goes by that is outside His knowledge or concern. The Bible says, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight” (Hebrews 4:13). From one end to the other, the Bible is filled with examples of God’s concern for us.
This should give us great comfort, because it reminds us that God never leaves us or forgets about us. God loves us, and because He loves us, He cares what happens to us. Jesus’ final words to His disciples should be a great comfort to us: “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).
But this also should be a warning to us — a warning not to leave God out of our lives. Some day, our time on this earth will come to an end, but are we ready for that day? We can be, by turning to Christ and trusting Him as our Lord and Savior.
