Q:

What does it mean to “believe” in Christ?

A:

The word “believe” in the Bible means more than simply agreeing in our minds that something might be true. It means “trust”—that we believe so strongly in God that we are willing to commit our lives to Him and live the way we know He wants us to live.

Suppose you were walking along a path and you came to a bridge which crossed a deep canyon. You might look at it and believe that it would hold you, and you might even see other people walking across it so you know it would hold your weight. But so far, your “belief” in the bridge is only in your head. When do you really believe the bridge will hold you? You only really believe it when you are willing to commit your life to it and actually walk across it.

It is the same way with Christ. Yes, we can believe that God exists, but God wants us to come to know Him personally. And He has bridged the gap between us by sending His Son to remove the barrier of sin and become that “bridge.” To believe in Christ is to commit our lives by faith to Christ—to trust Him personally as our Lord and Savior. Our prayer is that you will come to truly believe in Christ.

I have been having this deep urge of love toward Christ. Moments where I will just burst out my I love you to Him. The love makes me cry with happy tears. I love you Christ. I am always amazed at the thought of God. And that makes me want to drop down and bow to him. I love him. I am happy. Christ is my love my saviour. Without him I am nothing. Christ is coming and I can’t wait to run to his arms. And just like kadilobari means Glory be to God, I shall glorify this awesome Savior. And again Christ I love you. My 18 years of life has never been better.

Praise our Savior who died on the Cross for our sins that we might know him and have eternal Life

  3. Carla Harvey says:

Thank you for answering my question.

  4. Amoh Michael says:

John 17:3 says to have eternal life is to know the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom he sent.I believe that salvation is not through works but the grace of God.I believe in the gospel, that Christ died for my sins .i.e on the Cross Christ crucified my old man with Him ,blotted out all the written codes that were against me,and disarmed all principalities and powers etc.I sin occasionally and when that happens I plead the blood of Jesus to cleanse me of my sins.Does this mean I have eternal life?

    1. Jose says:

Hello Amoh. Everything you wrote reflects what I believe Jesus commanded us to believe, especially “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
(1 John 1:8 ESV)” in regards to your sharing that you occasionally sin. I bet your post resonated with a lot of people. Thanks for sharing and may God continue what He started in you. Peace.

How can I bear much fruit of the spirit?

  6. Roseanne Cain says:

    Great resource

  7. Marco R. Maldonado says:

I don’t see much fruit in my walk with Christ. Have I actually “believed” in Him with all my heart? Not just though emotions or head knowledge? Please, help.

    1. Dan says:

You asked about the lack of fruit. Do you see that your life is at peace with your God? and your fellowman? Do you love God with your whole being and your neighbor as yourself? You are on the right track. Read the book of James….show your faith by your works. God bless

I too feel the same way from time to time. (I accepted Christ’s sacrifice for my sins a few months ago.) Then I realize I have had the porn and online poker obsession removed since. I woke up one day and realized, wow I have not obsessed over these things in months. How much distress they borh caused me. Give us ‘today’, our daily bread, helps me realize I am still eligible to fall away, so keep on praying.
