Q:

If I give my life to Jesus, do you think He will get my ex-wife and me back together? I can't blame her for leaving me, but I miss her and I'd do almost anything to get her back. Do you think God will do that, if I turn to Him?

A:

I don’t know whether or not your marriage will be restored if you turn to Christ (although I have seen it happen, when both partners truly submitted their lives to Him).

But I do know this: If you turn to Christ, He will make you a better person. Although you don’t say exactly what went wrong in your marriage, you do admit you were a major part of the problem–so what would be different about you if your ex-wife did return? Probably very little–unless you give your life to Christ and let Him begin to change you from within.

God wants to take away your bad habits and your selfishness–and He will, if you’ll let Him. More than that, He wants to fill you with His Spirit and replace the bad things in your life with good things. The Bible says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23).

By a simple prayer of faith ask Jesus to come into your life. Then ask Him to help you become the kind of person He wants you to be. Why hang on to your old ways of living–ways that will never bring you lasting happiness, and in the end lead to an eternity apart from God? Instead, give your life to Christ today, and then trust your future into His hands. The Bible says, “Consider the blameless, observe the upright; there is a future for the man of peace” (Psalm 37:37).
