Q:

I know I'm going to hell when I die because I've blasphemed the Holy Spirit. My aunt says God will forgive me but I don't believe it. But I promised her I'd write you to see what you'd say. I don't want to go to hell but I know I will.

A:

Do you honestly think God wants you to spend eternity apart from Him in the place the Bible calls hell? No, He doesn’t. Instead, He wants you to be with Him in heaven because He loves you. The Bible says, “He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance”(2 Peter 3:9).

Those words were written by the Apostle Peter–and if anyone was guilty of denying Christ, it was Peter. Do you remember? Jesus had warned Peter that he would deny Him, but Peter strongly disagreed. Then Jesus was arrested, and when someone asked Peter if he also was a follower of Jesus, “He began to call down curses on himself, and he swore to them, ‘I don’t know this man'” (Mark 14:71). But Peter repented, and God forgave him–completely and totally. And He will forgive you.

Yes, Jesus said only one sin couldn’t be forgiven, and that was “blasphemy against the Spirit” (Matthew 12:31). But what does it mean to blaspheme the Spirit? I have studied Jesus’ words very carefully, and it simply means this: To deny the Holy Spirit’s witness to Jesus.

In other words, the only sin God can’t forgive is the sin of rejecting Christ. But why reject Him any longer? God’s promise is for you: “Whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:18). Commit your life to Him today.

Thank you for explaining that. Grieving the Holy Spirit and Blaspheming the Holy Spirit are different. I was confused, but now I get it.

Yes it sure is!!! Don’t let the devil confuse you, he loves and feeds on that! Here is a scripture I want to share!

      1 Corinthians 14:33
      New King James Version (NKJV)
33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.

I just want to say this: I feel that you really need to say, “Holy spirit, I ask that you come into my heart and examine me in EVERY way and lead me”. This is what I have felt and see: We want man to come to us and comfort us. When we are this shaken, the ONLY way we are going to find that comfort and peace is through Jesus! Period! Also, read your bible this is your road map to Heaven!! ALL the answers are here!!! Be careful with man as we ALL make mistakes and are not perfect. He knows our heart, just because you once were one way does not mean that your heart feels that way now! We do change, that is one of the only thing that stays the same is change. Now is it for better or worse? I will be lifting you up in prayer, ALL of you. Seek him and read his word for that is your sword against evil!!!

I’ve battled with blasphemous thoughts for almost seven years now. Those thoughts won’t just leave me until I started saying them out.At some point I said I was Jesus but I think I’ve blasphemed the Holyspirit. Is there still hope.

  6. Matt says:

I know the feeling. I started getting blasphemous thoughts a couple months ago and I thought I did too until I read this and talked to my pastor amongst other things. God does know your heart. Satan is just trying to build a case against you. Put on the full armor. When the satan reminds you of your past, remind him of his future.

For anyone who is concerned that they have committed blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, I want to tell you that you did NOT! It’s not as simple as you think. Gods knows your heart and judges you accordingly. If you feel fear, concern or remorse; if you feel an urge to repent and follow The Lord, that’s the HOLY SPIRIT drawling you in! Did you know that the Holy Spirit is our helper? Did you know that he convicts you of your sins? Did you know he ministers to you? The Holy Spirit is strong and He knows your heart. He knows if you said something you did not mean. Satan whispers lies and put bad thoughts in your head that do not line up with how you feel deep down inside. This has happened to me and I tell you the truth, The Lord revealed to me that these thoughts are not mine. I’m talking about thoughts that make you say,” Woh! Where did that thought come from?” Satan is an intruder. This is why we must pray and stand firm on the word of God. Put on your armor and pray for The Lord to protect and cover you. Ephesians 6:11

I am terrified that I committed blasphemy of the holy spirit by attempting to write a fiction book about the basic concept of blasphemy. I would never try to portray it as the truth, but I am terrified that I have already committed it.
