Q:

I hope you won't take this in the wrong way, but to be honest, heaven sounds kind of dull to me. I mean, if all we're going to do is sit around on a cloud strumming harps, well, I'll be bored before the end of my first day there. Am I misunderstanding something?

A:

Yes, you’re misunderstanding what heaven is really like! Whatever else it will be, it certainly won’t be dull or boring. In fact, the opposite will be the case.

Why is this? One reason is because God will have work for us to do in heaven (although we’ll never grow weary or bored with it). The Bible doesn’t tell us exactly what it will involve, but you can be sure we’ll be busy (and not just strumming harps!). The Bible compares heaven to a beautiful and perfect city, and says we’ll serve God there. The Bible says, “The throne of God and of the Lamb (Jesus Christ) will be in the city, and his servants will serve him” (Revelation 22:3).

But we’ll also have all eternity to discover the riches of God and His wisdom. The Apostle Paul exclaimed, “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!” (Romans 11:33). Surely it will take all eternity for us to explore those riches. I’ve even wondered if God will take us on a tour of the universe, visiting galaxies we can’t even see today with our most sophisticated telescopes.

The real question for you, however, is this: Do you know for sure that you will go to heaven when you die? You can be, because through Jesus Christ God has provided the way for your sins to be forgiven and your salvation to be secured. By faith give your life to Him today.
