No, it’s never too late for you (or anyone else) to discover who God is and what He wants to do in your life — not at all. Moses was about 80 years old when he first met God, while tending sheep in the middle of the Sinai wilderness (see Acts 7:23-30).
And God wants you to discover who He is, because He loves you and wants you to love Him in return. In fact, He actually has put within your mind and heart this desire you have to learn about Him. He wouldn’t have done that if He didn’t care about you or want you to come to know Him.
How can you learn about God? The key is to understand that God isn’t hiding from us. Instead, He has done everything He can to make Himself known to us; all we need to do is look for Him in the right place. How has He made Himself known? One way is through the world He’s created. As the Bible says, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands” (Psalm 19:1).
But we learn about God most of all through Jesus Christ — because He was God in human flesh. Get a modern translation of the Bible, and read through one of the Gospels (I suggest John). When you do, you’ll discover just how much God loves you, and that He wants to welcome you into His family. Then ask Him to come into your life — and He will.
