Q:

A friend of mine talks about seeking God's will about decisions she's facing, but what does she mean? I believe in God and all that, but I'm not sure He cares about the decisions we make. He's too big to bother with little things like that, in my opinion.

A:

Listen: God is so great that He is concerned about even the smallest detail of our lives!

If God was only interested in the big things (like keeping the planets from crashing into each other), then we might conclude He wasn’t interested in us. But God is interested in the small things also (like keeping the atoms in place) — and He’s interested in us as well. The Psalmist said, “If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there” (Psalm 139:8).

But it’s not just a question of how great God is. It’s also a question of what He thinks about us — and the answer is, He loves us! If He didn’t love us, He wouldn’t care if we make wrong decisions or destroyed ourselves. But He does love us, and He does care! The proof is that He sent His only Son into the world to erase our guilt and bring us back to Himself. The Bible says, “He loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:10).

The most important truth I can tell you is that God loves you, and He cares about you. My prayer is that you will respond to His love by turning to Him in repentance and faith, and asking Jesus Christ to come into your life. Then turn to Him every day for the guidance you need.
