“This experience will prove to be one of the most effective catalysts for the cause of evangelism in my pastoral ministry. I truly believe this and anticipate God doing great things through my local church.” —Pastor who attended an Asheville School

  • Times: The first session of the School begins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, March 4 (registration will start at 3:00 p.m.) and the conference will end Thursday, March 6 at approximately 9:00 p.m. Checkout at both The Cove and off-property lodging is on Friday morning, March 7.

  • Lodging for the Asheville School of Evangelism (SOE) will be pre-assigned based on the date your registration was received, on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to maximize the number of participants that can stay on the Cove property, all Cove rooms are double occupancy only. If you plan to register as an individual, and you want to be on the Cove property, you will be assigned a roommate. As an alternative, you may want to bring someone with you to share the room (two double beds in each room).
    • If you choose to room alone, you will be assigned a room at a hotel close to the Cove.

  • If you are assigned a room on the Cove property, you must arrive at the Cove no later than 5:00 p.m. on March 4 in order to keep your room at the Cove. If you are unable to arrive before that time, please be sure to call to inform us of your late arrival (828-298-2092, ask for the School of Evangelism registration desk). Any rooms not claimed at that time, or for which we do not have a message indicating late arrival, will be made available to the waiting list.
    • Once the Cove Inns have been assigned, rooms will be assigned at a local hotel where we have a block of rooms reserved. Your confirmation letter will indicate where your lodging assignment has been made.

  • We are not able to accommodate infants, children under 18, or pets in the Cove meeting or lodging facilities.

  • Lodging costs for the Asheville SOE include seven meals at the Cove for ALL participants who stay in SOE-arranged lodging, whether at the Cove or at the local hotel. These meals begin with dinner on Tuesday, March 4, and end with dinner on Thursday, March 6. There will be no breakfast served at the Cove on Friday. You will receive further information about dining room arrangements when you register on-site at the School.
    • If you have booked your own lodging, and would like to take meals at the Cove, please contact the SOE staff at 888-345-9191 to make arrangements. These arrangements must be made prior to your arrival at the School; no additional meal tickets will be available after you arrive. The cost is $90/person for seven buffet meals, as outlined above, payable on arrival at the Cove.

  • Scholarships: Your confirmation letter will indicate if you have been granted a lodging and/or travel scholarship. If you believe your scholarship as outlined in your letter is incorrect, please contact the SOE office in advance of the School to get explanation or seek modification (call 1-888-345-9191, or email at soe@bgea.org). The scholarship includes meals at the Cove during the School, but not any incidentals or meals at the off-property hotels. Scholarships also do not cover ground transportation charges.

  • If you are not on scholarship, you will pay your lodging costs at the Cove upon arrival. If you are on scholarship, the balance owed, if any, will be payable at the Cove when you arrive. The lodging cost is $575 for a couple and $287.50 for individuals sharing a room. Cost for individuals with a single room in a local hotel is $425. All SOE-arranged lodging includes seven meals at the Cove as noted above. (Note: Scholarship checks for travel only will be distributed at the end of the conference as reimbursement.)

  • Travel scholarships are meant to assist with your travel expenses, not necessarily to cover them completely. The travel scholarship is based on a calculation of the distance between your address and the School location one way. The travel scholarship pays $.20 per mile up to a maximum of $400. The maximum payment reflects a maximum of 2,000 miles traveled one way. If you come with your spouse, the travel scholarship covers only one person’s travel; if you carpool, the travel scholarship is paid only to the primary driver of the vehicle.

  • Refunds: We understand that circumstances sometimes change, resulting in your need to cancel your registration. However, our preparations for your stay require that we make financial commitments well in advance of the School dates. For this reason, refunds of the registration fee are available only if you cancel more than 45 days in advance of the School.

  • Hotels: Most hotels require that you present a credit card on arrival to cover any charges you incur while there. This is generally true regardless of how you plan to cover your bill. Since you will pay your lodging costs at the Cove, the Cove will pay the hotel directly for your lodging. However, we do not cover charges for meals or incidentals at the hotels. Please be prepared to provide the hotel with a credit card when you check in.

  • Travel: You are responsible for making your own travel arrangements to/from Asheville. If you are flying, the Asheville/Hendersonville Regional Airport is approximately 20 miles away from The Cove. The Greenville/Spartanburg (SC) Regional Airport is approximately 85 miles away, and the Charlotte Douglas International Airport is approximately a two-hour drive. Sorry, but the SOE is not able to provide ground transportation from the airports to the Cove.

  • Dress code for the entire conference is casual. (Sport shirts/slacks, dresses, blouses/slacks are all acceptable).

  • CEU credit information: Many colleges or seminaries will award CEU credit for your completion of the School. If you want to pursue this credit, you will need to make your own arrangements with your college or seminary. The SOE schedule can be used to figure your hours and the certificate of completion to verify your attendance.

  • Weather conditions: At this time of year, highs are typically in the 50’s and lows are in the 30’s.

  • Travel: You are responsible for making your own travel arrangements to/from Vancouver.
    • Parking at the hotel for overnight guests is $27 per 24-hour period. Because Vancouver is a very “walkable” city, and because downtown parking is expensive, it is recommended that you choose taxi or shuttle rather than renting a car if you plan to fly to Vancouver. A taxi costs approximately $25-$27 to downtown Vancouver from the airport. Check the Vancouver airport web site for more information on ground transportation options.

  • Your confirmation letter will indicate if you have been granted a lodging and/or travel scholarship. If you believe your scholarship, as outlined in your letter, is incorrect, then please contact the SOE office before the School to get an explanation or seek modification (call 1-888-345-9191, or email at soe@bgea.org).

  • Scholarship checks will be distributed at the end of the conference as reimbursement; lodging scholarships are not paid directly to the hotel. Scholarships are provided on the assumption that you will attend all sessions of the conference. If this is not your plan, please contact the SOE office.
    • SOE scholarships do not cover charges for meals, ground transportation, parking, or other incidentals at the hotel.
    • Please note that travel scholarships are meant to assist with your travel expenses, not necessarily to cover them completely. The travel scholarship is based on a calculation of the distance between your address and the School location one way. The travel scholarship pays $.20 per mile up to a maximum of $400. If you come with your spouse, the travel scholarship covers only one person’s travel; if you carpool, the travel scholarship is paid only to the primary driver of the vehicle.

  • Because we want you to receive the maximum benefit from each session for your ministry, we ask that no babies or children under 18 years of age accompany you this week. We are not able to accommodate infants or children under 18 in the sessions.

  • Most hotels require that you present a credit card on arrival to cover any charges you incur while there, regardless of how you plan to cover your bill. Since your scholarship amount (if eligible) is paid directly to you and not to the hotel, please be prepared to provide the hotel with a credit card when you check in.

  • Refunds: We understand that circumstances sometimes change, resulting in your need to cancel your registration.
