In response to the shooting at Ft. Hood, Texas, the entire staff of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association offers heartfelt condolences and prayers for the victims of this tragedy and their families during this incredibly difficult time.

"I am deeply saddened by the tragedy that befell Americans residing at Fort Hood," Franklin Graham said in a statement. "My prayers are with the survivors and families, friends, and colleagues of the victims of yesterday’s shootings. I am thankful for the citizens that will surround them with compassion and support in the midst of such anguish.

"The Holy Scriptures speak of those who 'make haste to shed innocent blood…the way of peace they have not known.' The Bible calls the heart deceitful and desperately wicked. This is part of the human condition that plagues the world. But the God of great mercy proclaims that He will comfort and console all who mourn in their time of trouble when they turn their hearts to Him.

"May we sincerely pray for the souls of our leaders on behalf of our nation," said Franklin, "to admit our dependence upon Him and to seek God’s favor to bring peace to hearts that are perplexed and filled with despair. For He alone is our hope in times of trouble."
